About Me

Live life to create and create to live life. We serve a creative God therefore we too are creative and should be creative.  My name is Nathan Sutliff and I work as the Director of Creative Arts at Grace Church of the Nazarene. There, I oversee all things creative, tech, video, production, web, and also lead the worship services and direct the choir.  I wear a lot of hats both literally and metaphorically.  I have the unique opportunity to lead a tremendous group of people as my first official church job.

My desire is to see people connect with a Universe Breathing Creator who desires them over all Creation.  I believe the Church today is guilty of becoming a Club and not an Outreach.  I believe that being “Christian” is more than a watered down Ethnicity.  If we are truly to be known by our love, then we should love more – the fatherless, widow, orphan, homeless, and less fortunate.  We need an authentic faith that is unashamed.

My Interests
I am a tech nerd, mac proselytizer, coffee sommelier, music geek, movie snob, and book lover. And it appears I am about to be a blogging enthusiast. I am also a sports fanatic. I love to play just about any sport about as much as I like to watch them.  I am a musician whose primary instrument is my voice and secondly guitar.  I have a small start to a guitar collection – Taylor 814, Baden Acoustic/Electric, and Parker Fly Classic as well as a Vox and Orange amplifier (unfortunately I had to sell my large amps and have downsized to practice amps).

A Little History
I grew up in northwestern Pennsylvania and found myself moving south to Nashville with a band.  While in high school my band averages 100 shows a year during both my junior and senior year.  After a bad management deal I found myself leading worship for a wonderful Youth program at Grace Church.  Before I realized what was going on I was working part time (no such thing as a part time job at a church) at the church while attending Belmont University full time.  During that time I met and married my beautiful wife of 2 years, Kelly.  After graduating I was hired on full time as Director of Creative Arts and been spreading my wings ever since.

I started this blog in hopes to share creativity and receive creativity from those who stumble upon it. Feel free to challenge me, encourage me, collaborate with me, or point me towards something we can all benefit from.

Also please make me laugh.
